Environmental Awareness

San Clemente Rotary is spearheading the effort to designate San Clemente a “Clean California Community.”

Since the Beach is in our back yard, it is the source of attention on many fronts, including keeping the waters and beaches clean and free from pollution. Plastics, cigarette butts and other debris contribute to harming the wildlife. With beach and community clean-up projects, San Clemente Rotary members help our environment and our and the community’s health.

In the past couple of years, the efforts of our club members and partners have aided the City to become a member of “Tree City USA” by participating in improving the “urban forest” in the city. Using donated funds and grants, the club has donated many trees to the public areas in the city.

Long term planning and developing community partnerships have supported the efforts of the group to secure grants to keep these projects growing. Projects under the umbrella of Environmental Awareness and Clean California Community include:

• Urban Forest – Arbor Day
• Ocean Festival Clean Up
• California Coastal Clean Up
• Love San Clemente Community Clean Up
• Community and Youth Education
